Strategic Advisor. Author of four books. Speaker. And above all — someone who believes that the most powerful force for organizational change is people who genuinely care.
I grew up in Amsterdam in a family where debate at the dinner table was mandatory and silence meant you hadn’t thought hard enough.
That shaped everything. I learned early that clarity is an act of courage, that good ideas die in bureaucratic ambiguity, and that the most important question in any room is the one no one is asking.
I started my career in management consulting in 2003, where I spent four years working on complex transformation programs across financial services, logistics, and consumer goods. It was a masterclass in organizational complexity — but it was also where I started to notice a persistent gap: brilliant strategies, mediocre execution, confused people.
In 2010, I founded my own advisory practice to address exactly that gap. Not strategy OR people, but strategy THROUGH people. The practice grew slowly, deliberately, and by referral only — which meant every client became a real partnership, not a project.
Over the years, I expanded into executive coaching, leadership development, and eventually writing. My four books explore different angles of the same core belief: that sustainable organizational performance is a human achievement, not a structural one.
Today I work with a small team of trusted collaborators across Amsterdam, London, and Singapore. We take on fewer engagements than we receive inquiries for — because the work only works when we can go deep.
The organizations that last are not the ones with the best strategy documents. They are the ones where people understand why they are here, trust the people next to them, and believe the work matters.
Joined a leading strategy firm in Amsterdam, working on complex transformation projects across financial services and FMCG.
Led my first large-scale organizational redesign for a Dutch bank with 5.000+ employees — and learned more than any MBA could teach.
Started Oliemuller Advies, focused exclusively on the intersection of strategy, people, and technology.
‘Human at the Core’ — a manifesto arguing that people are not the means of executing strategy; they are the strategy.
Appointed strategic advisor to the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs on organizational modernization and digital transformation.
Extended practice to the USA, UK, and Singapore. Launched flagship executive leadership program across 8 countries.
‘The Architecture of Change’ (Penguin Business) — debuted at #3 on the Dutch business bestseller list.
Recognized by Management Consulting Europe as one of the 50 most influential independent advisors on the continent.
To build sustainable business models that endure over time while creating equal opportunities for all people — on earth and beyond.
Serving entrepreneurs, CEOs, and executives who want to transform their organizations into sustainable enterprises — with people at the core.
Trained to identify waste, eliminate inefficiency, and drive data-driven improvement across complex organizations. Applied in every engagement to ensure that change delivers measurable, lasting results — not just good intentions.
These are not slogans. They are the principles I actually use to make decisions — about which clients to work with, what advice to give, and when to walk away.
Every strategy must ultimately serve the humans it affects. When people flourish, organizations follow.
I say what I see — even when it's uncomfortable. Clarity is a form of respect.
Real solutions must work in the whole, not just the part. I look for leverage points, not quick fixes.
I measure success in years, not quarters. Every engagement is designed to outlive my involvement.
My advisory practice focuses on six interconnected areas. Most engagements draw on several at once — because real business challenges rarely fit a single category.
Developing no-nonsense leaders who empower their teams and unlock human potential.
Building commercial strategies that move organizations from transactional to transformational.
Putting the customer at the center of every decision, process, and conversation.
Bridging the gap between digital ambition and the human systems that must carry it.
Designing sustainable business models built to endure — and to create real opportunity.
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt methodology applied to eliminate waste and drive measurable results.
